A French vintage farmhouse woven rustic basket often called a bourgne or paillon. 

This stunning old basket isn't completely symmetrical which only adds to its rustic charm! These baskets were handcrafted in rural France during the late 19th and early 20th century using the traditional coiled rye straw and bramble technique, and were often seen in country homes and bakeries being used as storage baskets or bread proofing bowls. 

In the bottom of the basket there is a cork which is unusual to find and a very interesting detail. 

We think this old basket will make wonderful decor in a country, farmhouse, rustic, or primitive setting.

Origin : France
Period : circa. early to mid 20th century onward.
Materials : rye straw,  bramble, wood

Condition : very good used vintage condition with signs of use and one loose strand as shown in our photos.
